Although Peter Parnell wrote the play, Alda both produced and inspired it. Background: President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians in 1992. Current president of the group's Allegheny County chapter. Schneiderman also is the Cornell High School doctor and is present at the school's athletic events.
Noteworthy: Schneiderman has been producer and host of "The Doctor is In," a Moon Community Access Television show since 2000. The show received a bronze Telly Award this year. The competition honors local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs.
Quote: "The whole purpose of the show is educational, but I'm hoping to do it in a way that's also sort of fun and has an entertainment value. I'm stopped in the supermarket all the time. We never once got a patient out of the show ... but a lot of people stop me (and say), 'I really enjoy your show, keep it up.' "
